I am writing on the eve of my visit with you in Miami at the Basel fair. I look forward to seeing you, though I understand this is not the best condition that you are in.
I promise not to be judgmental when I see you – I know you will be very tired. There are lots of eyes and minds sucking the life out of you at this time.
I also know that you will be forced to sit and stand for very long periods of time where you may be extremely uncomfortable, and you have no real choice for your bedfellows – they have been forced upon you.
I promise to look beyond the sturm und drang and see the intention behind your presence. Overall I promise to seek out the innocence that connects me to you always.
PS. Be strong little marshmallow.Tagged: Andy Freeberg, Art, Art Basel Miami, Kehinde Wiley, Miami Art Basel, Miami Beach, Sean Kelly
