Arts in Education

Over the course of my career(s) I have remained an advocate for art in schools. Since 2007 I have raise funds for arts in schools district wide (San Francisco and Southwest Washington), was a volunteer art teacher for elementary students K-5, raised funds to train teachers to use art in the classroom to facilitate dialogue and build critical thinking strategies, and was a board or committee member on several organizations whose mission it is to bring the power of the arts into a more integrated learning experience including the Right Brain Initiative, Levi’s Strauss Youth Arts Program, Visual Thinking Strategies, the De Young Museum and Southern Exposure. I also co-founded “Point + Line” (2016-2018), which was a platform for new dialogue on contemporary art, inviting novice and expert at once to engage in community centered on art.
