This weekend Kara Walker premiers her installation sponsored by Creative Time in the Domino Sugar Factory on the eve of its demolition. The installation is billed as a departure from the artist’s usual highly sexual, dark narratives of antebellum slaves of the South within the confines of the black silhouette. Repository 93: Democratic Art | ArtPrize Launches Today | $560k to artists
Today in Grand Rapids, Michigan the world’s most democratic art prize founded five and a half years ago is launched – ArtPrize is a 19-day free for all where artists may show their work within a three-mile radius of the city.
